On 6-24-24, early in the morning, around 2 am...
The LORD highlighted a specific scripture preceding Revelation 1:11.
"I was in the Spirit on the LORD"S day..."
Revelation 1:10.
I WAS IN THE SPIRIT ON THE LORD'S DAY!!!
This proceeds the verse where Jesus announces Himself to John with the sound of a trumpet.
He instructs John to write letters to the 7 churches for- both- correction and encouragement.
He identifies Himself as The first and last letter of The Hebrew alphabet. John understands this is a Sovereign sign of great significance. It was a timely message from the King & His Courts of Heaven.
I too knew the meaning of the scripture, which was spoken outloud into my spirit.
I knew, immediately, as one often does when the Lord speaks a clear and direct word.
Though I was half asleep...I was suddenly wide awake!
The LORD was making me aware that it was my responsibility to Get into the Spirit...to Be in the Spirit...to dwell & remain...to abide in the Spirit.
And to be attentive to The DAY of the Lord.
It was not about a specific day of the week but an awareness of His timing, His movement, His voice, His Way, His presence & His mandate.
In this way alone, in this place only, could I expect to continuously hear, discern and become alert & responsive to His voice.
It was a mandate, a correction, a merciful and gracious instruction....
And a patient, loving warning.
I was being called into the place of oil....the place of abiding in Him...The place of His River.
Then and only then could I expect that wondrous & glorious invitation....
"Come up here."
Revelation 4:1
There are those in the New Testament who moved in and out of heaven to aid them in bringing His Kingdom while still serving on earth. They were IN THE SPIRIT.
Peter, James & John were taken by Jesus into the cloud with 2 heavenly witness'. Paul shares about being taken into the 3rd heaven. John was invited to "Come up here" though still completing his course on earth. Philip was translated from one local to another. I believe this is what the parable of The 10 virgins is referencing.
In Johns letter, John introduces himself as a-
"companion & brother in-
The Tribulation
The Kingdom
The Patience
Of Jesus Christ "
These 3 requirements attend and inform our need to abide in the Spirit and to walk in a mind set of The LORD'S DAY.
We are not told how or in what way John was "in the Spirit" but we can somewhat interpret "how" by looking at the book of Acts.
The disciples waited for The Promise of The Spirit in the Upper Room with prayer & scripture study. They also were celebrating and worshipping daily & publicly in the Temple.
After Holy Spirit came they continued their praise and breaking of bread from house to house...in close fellowship with one another. They wholeheartedly welcomed Holy Spirit into every movement & activity...both private & public.
We can surmise that this was John's joy and habitual behavior. Though he was exiled, he was allowed companions & visitors to assist him.
I knew when the LORD spoke Revelation 1:10 aloud to my sleepy soul....
I knew He was graciously asking me to Wake Up and get into His stream of Living Water. His flow of oil from The Rock.
He was asking me to get into His River and remain in that flow.
I knew He was asking me to position myself to receive His oil.
I believe it is a message to all believers.
GET IN THE SPIRIT & DWELL IN THE LORDS DAY.
His DAY is a spontaneous new unfolding, ever brightening way!
